Wednesday, December 13, 2006: Alleluia!
Or rather... (bursting into song)
Ha- *clap* -llelu- *clap, clap* -jah, ha- *clap, clap* -llelu- *clap, clap* -jah, ha- *clap, clap* -llelu- *clap, clap* -jah, ha- *clap* -lle- *clap* -lu- *clap* -jah!
(no longer singing) Haha, that was, admittedly, a little random. However, I just want to say that I SUCCEEDED!! Yes, I succeeded!
For this success, I am grateful.
First and foremost - thank you, Denyse, for your advice and help back then!
And last, though not the least, but more the most - thanks be to the Lord for helping me achieve it today! Alleluia!
Finally, I can now proudly say that I'm a Believing Mage. Now, the next thing is to keep the same state without losing it, if not picking it up again without having to use the "summoning gesture".
The following also happened today at practice - the conductor actually got four of the leaders to sing the solo part for part of When You Believe (near the end). At first she had just wanted four people - two Sopranos and two Altos nominated by the SLs - and then she asked for volunteers - and after that, all the four more prominent leaders who were there.
I remember seeing Liyana turning around and calling my name a few times over this short period of time. (turning to Liyana) Thank you, but I really felt that today really wasn't my turn. I don't really dare listen to the vox populi when they're mooting for a soloist and the leaders haven't had their turn yet; seriously, they're better, or they wouldn't be the leaders anyway. If I can, I'll try to grab the chance the next time.
However, the conductor voiced her plans to make us do this four by four and then pick the best four (for Orientation, I suppose). I seriously doubt she'll be able to get her best four from the entire choir by the time the hols are over - I mean, how many more sessions are there? - unless she plans to speed up the process by cramming 'auditions' for up to five groups of four within the same session.
Random line, though also related to Choir practice today: Out of sight - end of the sixth, or start of the thirty-seventh?
I'll be off to sing to the butterflies Lord now.
